Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the sirloin steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub each steak with olive oil, and season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Add the steaks to the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until a golden-brown crust forms. Flip the steaks and add butter to the pan. Cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare or longer depending on your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Salad Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the steak is resting, wash and dry the mixed greens. Halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the cucumber, and thinly slice the red onion.

  2. 7

    Make the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion.

  3. 8

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.
