Begin by chilling a rocks glass or an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare your cocktail.

In a mixing glass, combine 1 oz of mezcal, 1 oz of Campari, and 1 oz of sweet vermouth.

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the cocktail and drop it in as a garnish.
