Base Layer

Method

Base Layer Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour the batter into it, spreading evenly.

Baking the Base

  1. 5

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 6

    Cool

Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer.

  2. 8

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Add vanilla extract and mix well.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 9

    Assemble the Dish

Cut the cooled base layer into squares and place on serving plates. Drizzle warm chocolate sauce over each piece.

  2. 10

    Add Toppings

Top each piece with a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of chopped nuts, and a handful of fresh berries.

  3. 11

    Serve

Serve immediately while the chocolate sauce is warm and enjoy your Blackstack Slopes!
