Hash Browns Ingredients

Method

Hash Browns Directions

  1. 1

    Prep the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a large bowl of cold water to remove excess starch. Let them soak for about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the grated potatoes and rinse them under cold water. Use a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to squeeze out as much moisture as possible.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Onion

Finely chop the onion and add it to the drained potatoes. Season with salt and black pepper, and mix well.

  4. 4

    Cook the Hash Browns

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil or butter over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the potato mixture in an even layer. Cook without stirring for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

  5. 5

    Flip and Finish

Carefully flip the hash browns using a spatula. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the other side is also golden brown. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels if necessary.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve hot with your favorite breakfast sides or toppings.
