Fried Calamari Ingredients

Method

Fried Calamari Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Marinate

In a bowl, soak the calamari rings in buttermilk for about 30 minutes to tenderize.

  3. 3

    Mix the Coating

In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Calamari

Remove the calamari from buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge the rings in the flour mixture until fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully add coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried calamari and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges and parsley.
