Spicy Garlic Sauce

Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Dip each shrimp into the beaten eggs, then dredge in the flour mixture until evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of the batter into it; it should sizzle immediately.

  3. 3

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not burned.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the soy sauce, honey, and lime juice, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

  3. 6

    Toss the Shrimp

Add the fried shrimp to the saucepan and toss them in the spicy garlic sauce until evenly coated. Remove from heat.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter, sprinkle with chopped green onions, and serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side.
