Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add the salt to the boiling water to season it.

  2. 2

    Add the Shrimp

Carefully add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the boiling water. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Serve

Drain the chilled shrimp and arrange them on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.

  2. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary. You can add more horseradish for a spicier kick or more ketchup to mellow the flavor.

  3. 7

    Serve

Transfer the cocktail sauce to a small serving dish and serve alongside the chilled shrimp.
