Method

Dessert Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Pans

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well until combined.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Fold in Chocolate Chips

Gently fold in the chocolate chips into the batter.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.

  8. 8

    Serve

Once cooled, frost with your favorite chocolate frosting or serve plain with a dusting of powdered sugar.
