Refresher Cocktail

Method

Refresher Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass and muddle

Place 3 cucumber slices and 4 mint leaves into a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add the simple syrup and gently muddle just until the cucumber releases some juice and the mint becomes fragrant (about 6–8 gentle presses). Avoid over-muddling the mint to prevent bitterness.

  2. 2

    Add liquids and ice

Add 1.5 oz vodka, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 2 oz cold brewed green tea into the shaker with the muddled ingredients. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and secure the lid.

  3. 3

    Shake

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is chilled and slightly frosted.

  4. 4

    Build and top

Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass (use a fine mesh strainer in addition to the shaker strainer to catch small cucumber pieces and mint fragments). Top with 2 oz club soda and gently stir once or twice to integrate.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with the remaining cucumber slice (slotted on the rim) and a lime wheel. Clap the remaining 2 mint leaves between your palms once to release aroma and place them on top as a final garnish. Serve immediately.
