Toppings & Condiments

Fries (oven-baked)

Method

Sliders

  1. 1

    Prepare beef

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, onion powder and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overworking.

  2. 2

    Form patties

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions (about 2 oz each). Form thin, wide patties slightly larger than the slider buns since they will shrink while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook patties

Lightly oil the hot skillet or griddle. Place patties on the surface, leaving a little space between them. Cook 2-3 minutes on the first side without pressing. Flip and cook another 1-2 minutes until nearly done.

  4. 4

    Add cheese

Place one piece of American cheese on each patty, cover the skillet with a lid or tent with foil for 30–45 seconds to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Toast buns

While patties finish, brush the cut sides of the slider buns with melted butter. Place buns, buttered side down, on the skillet or separate pan and toast 30–45 seconds until lightly golden.

  6. 6

    Assemble sliders

On each bottom bun place a small spoon of ketchup and a dab of mustard if desired, then a cheesy patty, a pickle slice and a little shredded lettuce. Cap with the top bun and keep warm until serving.

Fries

  1. 7

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). On a rimmed baking sheet toss frozen fries with olive oil, salt and optional paprika in a single layer.

  2. 8

Bake according to package directions, usually 18–22 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden and crisp. If cooking time differs, time fries to finish while sliders are cooking so both are hot together.

Plating & Serving

  1. 9

Arrange 2 sliders per child (or 3 if you need 8 small sliders per serving size adjustment) on a plate with a generous portion of fries. Serve remaining ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping.
