Canned Soda
Optional Garnishes & Additions
Method
Serve Canned Soda
- 1
Chilled straight from the can
Ensure the selected 355 ml can (Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7UP, Iced Tea, Orange Crush or Root Beer) is well chilled (refrigerated for at least 2 hours or stored in an ice bucket for 15–20 minutes). Hold the can upright, peel back the tab, and drink directly from the can or pour into a glass following the steps below.
- 2
Pouring into a glass with ice
Place 4–6 ice cubes in a glass (about 1 cup ice). Slowly open the 355 ml can to release pressure. Tilt the glass at a 45° angle and pour the soda gently down the side to preserve carbonation and minimize foaming. Once most of the can is poured, straighten the glass and top off. Allow foam to settle for 10–20 seconds if needed, then top up with remaining soda from the can. Add an optional lemon or lime wedge for 7UP or iced tea, or a mint sprig for iced tea if desired.
- 3
Iced tea specific serving
If serving brewed iced tea in a 355 ml can equivalent, taste first and sweeten if desired. For a lightly sweetened iced tea: stir in 1 teaspoon (5 ml) simple syrup or 1 teaspoon sugar until dissolved while tea is slightly warmed (if preparing from concentrated tea). Chill to 355 ml and serve over ice as described above. Garnish with a lemon wedge or mint if desired.

Storage and leftovers
If you do not finish the can, re-cover the opening with a reusable can lid or transfer remaining soda into a clean, airtight container and refrigerate. Consume within 24 hours for best carbonation and flavor. Note: iced tea should be refrigerated and consumed within 48 hours.
