Method
Cake Base Preparation
- 1
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until light and fluffy.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- 6
Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 7
Cool
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Cream Filling Preparation
- 8
Prepare Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, butter, vegetable shortening, vanilla extract, and milk. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- 9
Fill the Cakes
Once the cake base has cooled, cut it into individual rectangles or rounds. Use a piping bag to fill each piece with the cream filling.
Chocolate Coating Preparation
- 10
Melt Chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine semisweet chocolate chips with vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- 11
Coat the Cakes
Dip each filled cake into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off. Place on a wire rack to set.
