Burger Ingredients

Toppings

Garlic Basil Mayo

Caramelized Onions

Method

Prepare Garlic Basil Mayo

  1. 1

    Make the Garlic Basil Mayo

In a food processor, combine mayonnaise, fresh basil leaves, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and set aside.

Prepare Caramelized Onions

  1. 2

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the large onions thinly. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently until onions are soft and golden brown. Add balsamic vinegar and stir to combine. Set aside.

Prepare Poblano Peppers

  1. 3

    Roast the Poblano Peppers

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the poblano peppers on a baking sheet and roast them for about 20 minutes or until the skin is blistered and charred. Remove from the oven and let cool. Once cool, peel off the skin, remove seeds, and slice.

Cook Burger Patties

  1. 4

Form and Cook the Burger Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your preferred doneness. Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Assemble the Outlaw Burger

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. Spread a generous amount of garlic basil mayo on the bottom bun. Place the cooked burger patty on top, followed by caramelized onions, roasted poblano slices, and slices of tomato and raw onion. Top with the other half of the bun, serve immediately.
