Method
Prepare the Patties
- 1
Form the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 lb of ground beef with 1 tsp of salt and 0.5 tsp of black pepper. Mix gently but thoroughly to season the meat. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.
- 2
Chill the Patties
Place the formed patties on a plate and put them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up, which will help them hold their shape while cooking.

Build the Burger
On the bottom half of each hamburger bun, spread 1 tbs of mayonnaise. Place the cooked patty on top, followed by the lettuce, tomato slice, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
