Onion Rings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Onions

Peel the large onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.

  3. 3

    Add the Beer

Slowly pour in the Angry Hank’s Microbrew beer into the dry mixture, stirring gently until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. The batter should be thick enough to coat the onion rings.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles and bubbles, the oil is hot enough.

  2. 5

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the beer batter, ensuring it is completely coated. Allow excess batter to drip off before frying.

  3. 6

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the onion rings from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
