Begin by crushing the pale malt and caramel malt. Mix them together in a large mash tun.

Malt Preparation

Add the filtered water to the mash tun and heat to 150°F (65°C). Maintain this temperature for 60 minutes.

Mashing

After mashing, sparge the grains with additional hot water to extract sugars, collecting the liquid in a kettle.

Sparging

Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the bittering hops and let boil for 60 minutes.

Boil the Wort

With 15 minutes left in the boil, add the flavor hops. At the end of the boil, add the aroma hops.

Cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or ice bath to around 50°F (10°C).

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the lager yeast.

Seal the fermenter and store it in a cool place (around 50°F or 10°C) for 2-3 weeks, allowing fermentation to complete.

Once fermentation is complete, prepare a priming solution (sugar dissolved in water) and add it to the beer before bottling.

Priming and Bottling

Bottle the beer and cap it. Allow the bottles to condition at room temperature for an additional 1-2 weeks.
