Brewing Instructions for Flying Monkey Juicy Ass IPA
1. Prepare the Mash
In a large pot, heat 5 liters of water to 160°F (71°C). Add the pale malt, crystal malt, and flaked oats to the heated water. Stir well to combine and maintain the temperature at 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes.
2. Sparging
After 60 minutes, sparge the mash by rinsing it with hot water (around 170°F or 77°C) to extract the sugars. Collect the liquid (wort) in a separate pot.
3. Boiling the Wort
Bring the wort to a boil and add Citra hops. Boil for 15 minutes before adding Mosaic hops and Amarillo hops. Continue boiling for another 15 minutes.
4. Cooling the Wort
After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or by placing the pot in an ice bath until it reaches 70°F (21°C).
5. Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Add the yeast and seal the vessel with an airlock. Allow it to ferment at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.
6. Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve priming sugar in a small amount of boiling water. Add this to the beer and mix gently. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them.
7. Carbonation
Allow the bottles to carbonate at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks before refrigerating.
8. Enjoy!
Chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Flying Monkey Juicy Ass IPA!
