Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Sugar

In an Old Fashioned glass, place the sugar cube at the bottom. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top of the sugar cube.

  2. 2

    Add Water

Add a few drops of plain water to the sugar and bitters mixture to help dissolve the sugar.

  3. 3

    Muddle Together

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle the sugar, bitters, and water together until the sugar is mostly dissolved.

  4. 4

    Add Whiskey

Pour 2 oz of bourbon or rye whiskey into the glass with the muddled mixture.

  5. 5

    Add Ice

Add 3 ice cubes to the glass, gently stirring to combine the whiskey with the muddled mixture.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a twist. Add the orange peel strip and a maraschino cherry for garnish.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your classic Old Fashioned cocktail.
