Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Open the jar of dill pickles and drain the liquid. Pat the pickles dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Batter Preparation

  1. 2

    Mix the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 3

    Add Water

Gradually add the cold water to the dry ingredients, whisking until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. The batter should be thick enough to coat the pickles.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, pour in the vegetable oil. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, making sure it is fully coated. Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding the pan.

  3. 6

    Cook Until Golden Brown

Fry the pickles for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried pickles and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles warm with ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
