Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Allow to cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar, Eggs, and Vanilla

In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly to combine. Add the pinch of salt and mix well.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Sift the all-purpose flour over the chocolate mixture and gently fold it in until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Cakes

Place the filled ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

Serving

  1. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Run a knife around the edges to loosen, then invert onto plates. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
