Sandwich Assembly

Method

Prepare the Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, salt, and black pepper. This will be your coating for the chicken.

  3. 3

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dip each piece into the flour mixture, pressing to adhere well. Shake off any excess flour.

Fry the Chicken

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken breasts into the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. An internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) should be reached.

  3. 6

    Drain the Chicken

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 7

    Spread the Mayonnaise

Take the toasted burger buns and spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.

  2. 8

    Add the Chicken and Toppings

Place a piece of crispy fried chicken on top of the mayonnaise. Add 2 slices of pickles, a lettuce leaf, and a slice of tomato on top of the chicken.

  3. 9

    Complete the Sandwich

Top with the other half of the toasted bun. Press down gently to secure the sandwich.
