Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Forming the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness.

Cooking the Bacon

  1. 3

    Frying the Bacon

In a separate skillet, cook the bacon slices over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to drain excess grease.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 4

    Adding Cheese

During the last minute of cooking the patties, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

  2. 5

    Building the Burger

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, crispy bacon, slices of tomato, and onion. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard, then top with the other half of the bun.
