Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add a tablespoon of salt to the water.
- 2
Cook the Pasta
Add the linguine pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once the pasta is cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest. Set the drained pasta aside.
Making the Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it begins to bubble.

- 6
Stir in Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 2-3 minutes, letting it thicken slightly.
- 7
Add Cheese and Seasoning
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce while stirring until it melts and incorporates smoothly. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
- 8
Combine Ingredients
Add the drained linguine pasta to the Alfredo sauce, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.
