Fried Pickles

Spicy Ranch Dipping Sauce

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the sliced dill pickles from their brine and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Breading

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Buttermilk

In a separate bowl, pour the buttermilk. This will be used to dip the pickles before breading.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature using a kitchen thermometer.

  5. 5

    Bread the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Repeat with all the pickle slices.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the breaded pickles in the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Spicy Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the ranch dressing, hot sauce, dried dill, and garlic powder until well combined.

  2. 8

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the dipping sauce and adjust the hot sauce to your preference for spiciness.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with the spicy ranch dipping sauce on the side.
