Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thick strips to form fries. You can adjust the thickness according to your preference.
- 2
Soak the Fries
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Remove the fries from the water and pat them dry with paper towels. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil (do not overcrowd the pot) and fry for about 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 5
Drain and Season
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt and pepper while still hot.
- 6
Serve
Repeat the frying process with the remaining batches of fries. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
