Calamari

Garlic Butter

Method

Preparing the Calamari

  1. 1

    Clean the Calamari

Rinse the fresh calamari under cold water, then cut the bodies into rings and the tentacles into smaller pieces. Pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Coat the Calamari

Dredge the calamari rings and tentacles in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

Frying the Calamari

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the breaded calamari in batches to the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Making Garlic Butter

  1. 6

    Melt the Butter

In a separate skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Add Garlic and Peppers

Add minced garlic and chopped red and green bell peppers; sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the peppers are slightly tender.

  3. 8

    Combine with Calamari

Add the fried calamari to the skillet and toss well to coat with the garlic butter and peppers. Cook for an additional minute.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Transfer the garlic butter calamari to a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
