Method
Preparation of Crab Filling
Mix the Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped green onions, finely chopped celery, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently until all ingredients are well mixed, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.
Preparing the Crab Shells
Prepare the Crab Shells
Take the cleaned and halved crabs and ensure they are free from any residual meat or shells. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
Stuffing and Baking
Stuff the Crabs
Spoon the crab filling mixture into each half of the crab shells, mounding it slightly on top.
Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Add Topping
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and paprika together. Brush this mixture over the stuffed crabs before placing them in the oven.
Bake the Crabs
Place the stuffed crab shells on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is hot and golden brown on top.
