- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 3
Dip the Mushrooms
In another bowl, pour the buttermilk. Dip each mushroom into the buttermilk, coating it thoroughly, then dredge it in the flour mixture until fully coated.
Frying the Mushrooms
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mushrooms
Carefully place the coated mushrooms in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6
Making the Ranch Dressing
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- 8
Chill the Dressing
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Serving
- 9
Plate the Dish
Serve the deep-fried mushrooms hot on a plate alongside a small bowl of ranch dressing for dipping.
