Preparation of Cheese Mixture
- 1
Mix the Cheese
In a medium bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, chopped jalapeno peppers (if using), and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Breading Process
- 2
Prepare Breading Stations
Set up three shallow bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- 3
Form Mozzarella Bites
Using your hands, take a tablespoon of the cheese mixture and form it into a ball. Repeat until all the cheese mixture is used.
- 4
Bread the Mozzarella Bites
Coat each cheese ball first in flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally roll it in the bread crumb and Parmesan mixture. Ensure each ball is fully coated.
Frying
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
- 6
Fry the Bites
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella bites to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- 7
Drain and Cool
Once fried, remove the mozzarella bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 8
Plate and Serve
Serve the mozzarella bites hot with marinara sauce and ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
