Pasta and Sauce

Hotdogs

Toppings (Optional)

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and then the elbow macaroni. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making the Cheese Sauce

  1. 3

    Prepare the Sauce Base

In the same pot used for the pasta, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and stir continuously for about 1 minute to create a roux.

  2. 4

    Add Milk and Cheese

Slowly whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture starts to thicken. Reduce heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until completely melted.

  3. 5

    Season the Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir to combine.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained elbow macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir well to coat all the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 7

    Prepare Hotdogs

While the pasta is being combined with the sauce, slice the hotdogs into bite-sized pieces.

  3. 8

    Add Hotdogs

Gently fold the sliced hotdogs into the macaroni and cheese mixture.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Mac N Cheese

Spoon the mac and cheese into bowls or plates. If desired, top with toasted breadcrumbs, a sprinkle of paprika, and chopped parsley for garnish.
