Method

Sandwich Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Haddock

Season the haddock fillets with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beaten egg in the second, and breadcrumbs in the third.

  3. 3

    Bread the Haddock

Dredge each haddock fillet in flour, dip in the egg, and coat with breadcrumbs until evenly covered.

  4. 4

    Fry the Haddock

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded haddock fillets and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Tartar Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix Tartar Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, finely chopped pickles, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

Fries Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into even strips for frying.

  2. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the potato strips in batches and fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the bulky rolls in half and spread a generous amount of tartar sauce on the bottom half. Place the fried haddock fillet on top and cover with the top half of the roll.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the haddock sandwiches hot alongside the fries.
