1. Juicing the Lemons

Cut each lemon in half and use a citrus juicer to extract the juice. Strain the juice into a measuring cup to remove seeds and pulp.

2. Mixing the Sugar

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved to create a simple syrup.

3. Combining Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the simple syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to mix everything together.

4. Chilling and Serving

Add ice to the pitcher or to individual glasses. Pour the lemonade over the ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately.
