Method

Cake Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 0.5 teaspoon salt. Set aside.

3

Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup unsalted butter and 1.5 cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

4

Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla

Add in 3 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

5

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with 0.5 cups whole milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

6

Pour into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Cinnamon Crumb Topping

7

Prepare Crumb Topping

In a small bowl, mix together 0.5 cups all-purpose flour, 0.5 cups brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon. Cut in 0.25 cups unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

8

Add Topping

Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the batter in the pan.

Baking

9

Bake the Cake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

10

Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

11

Serve with Ice Cream

Cut the cooled cake into squares and serve each piece with a scoop of coffee ice cream on the side.
