Method
Preparation of Tofu
- 1
Press the Tofu
Remove the tofu from its packaging, drain the liquid, and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.
- 2
Cut the Tofu
After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or slabs, depending on your preference.
Marinating the Tofu
- 3
Prepare the Marinade
In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch. Mix well to create a marinade.
- 4
Marinate the Tofu
Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and gently toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the fridge for more flavor).
Frying the Tofu
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 6
Fry the Tofu
Carefully add the marinated tofu cubes to the hot oil in a single layer. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain Excess Oil
Once the tofu is cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving the Dish
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle the fried tofu with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or over rice.
