Method
DESSERTS
- 1
Prepare the Sticky Rice
Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming gummy.
- 2
Soak the Rice
Place the rinsed sticky rice in a bowl and cover it with water. Let it soak for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
- 3
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 30 minutes, or until it is tender and translucent.
- 4
Prepare the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- 5
Mix Rice with Coconut Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Pour half of the coconut sauce over the warm rice and mix gently until the rice is fully coated.
- 6
Slice the Mango
While the rice is cooling, peel and slice the fresh mango into thin pieces.
- 7
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce, and top with fresh mango slices. Optionally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for added texture.
