Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Vegetables

Thinly slice the onion and both bell peppers.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat

If using rib-eye, ensure it is shaved thinly. If using chicken, slice it thinly against the grain.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  2. 4

    Add the Meat

Push the sautéed vegetables to the side of the skillet. Add the shaved rib-eye or chicken to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Mix the meat with the vegetables.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Place slices of Swiss cheese on top of the meat and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt for about 2-3 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise but do not cut all the way through.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Once the cheese has melted, use a spatula to transfer the meat and vegetable mixture into the hoagie rolls. Close the rolls and serve immediately.
