Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the beef into two equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them in the same skillet until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a butter lettuce leaf on top, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheddar, slices of heirloom tomato, red onion, and dill pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the smashed classic cheeseburgers with a side of cowboy chips and enjoy!
