Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes into a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a kitchen towel to remove moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
