Method

Prepare the BBQ Sauce

  1. 1

    Make the Sweet-n-Spicy BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 2

    Form the Burger Patty

In a large bowl, mix together the Certified Angus Beef® ground beef, salt, and black pepper until just combined. Do not overmix. Form the mixture into two equal patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cook the Burger

  1. 3

    Grill the Burger Patties

Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and baste with the sweet-n-spicy BBQ sauce. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.

Cook the Bacon

  1. 4

    Crisp the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the applewood smoked bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Build the Smokehouse Burger

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the cooked burger patty, a slice of cheddar cheese, two slices of crispy bacon, and a slice of tomato. Drizzle additional BBQ sauce on top if desired. Place the top bun on and serve immediately.
