Ahi Tuna
Wasabi Cream Sauce
Method
Preparing the Ahi Tuna
- 1
Season the Tuna
Rub the Ahi tuna steaks with olive oil, salt, and black pepper evenly on both sides.
- 2
Coat with Sesame Seeds
Press the sesame seeds onto the outer surface of the tuna steaks to create an even coating.
- 3
Sear the Tuna
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little olive oil if needed, then sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side for a rare finish. Adjust the time if you prefer a more cooked steak.
- 4
Slice the Tuna
Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Thinly slice the tuna steaks against the grain.
Making the Wasabi Cream Sauce
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, wasabi paste, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
- 6
Add Chives
Finely chop the chives and fold them into the sauce. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Serving
- 7
Plate the Dish
Arrange the sliced Ahi tuna on a serving plate and drizzle the wasabi cream sauce over the top.
- 8
Garnish
Optionally garnish with additional chives or sesame seeds for presentation.
