Ribs

Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Season the Ribs

Start by preheating your grill to medium heat (around 300°F). Meanwhile, remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Make sure to massage the seasoning into the meat for maximum flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Grill

Once the grill is ready, place the ribs on the grill, bone side down. Cover and cook for about 2 to 2.5 hours, maintaining a consistent temperature. If you have a meat thermometer, the internal temperature should reach around 190°F for tender ribs.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Adjust seasoning with salt and cayenne pepper as needed.

Finishing the Ribs

  1. 5

    Baste and Char the Ribs

After 2 to 2.5 hours, remove the ribs from the grill and brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the top. Return the ribs to the grill and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting with more sauce halfway through, until the sauce is caramelized and the ribs are charred to your liking.

  2. 6

    Rest and Serve

Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
