Method

Cooking the Base

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Place the uncooked rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and all the water is absorbed.

  3. 3

    Fluff the Rice

Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Then, use a fork to fluff the rice gently.

Adding Proteins

  1. 4

    Prepare the Protein

While the rice is cooking, prepare your choice of protein: grill the chicken breast, sauté the shrimp, or cube and stir-fry the tofu until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Combine with Rice

Once the rice is ready, stir in the cooked protein of your choice and mix well.

Adding Vegetables

  1. 6

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a separate pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped bell peppers, sliced carrots, and frozen peas. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

  2. 7

    Mix with Rice and Protein

Add the sautéed vegetables to the rice and protein mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.

Adding Flavor Enhancers

  1. 8

Add Soy Sauce and Sesame Oil

Drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice mixture. Stir well to ensure even coating.

  2. 9

    Garnish

Top with chopped green onions before serving for added flavor and crunch.
