Main Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Black Cod

Rinse the black cod under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Cut it into 4 equal fillets.

  2. 2

    Prepare the King Prawns

Peel and devein the king prawns, removing the shells and tails. Rinse them under cold water and set aside.

  3. 3

    Mix the Seasoning

In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper to create a seasoning mix.

Cooking the Dish

  1. 4

    Sear the Black Cod

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil and place the black cod fillets in the skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.

  2. 5

    Sauté the King Prawns

In the same skillet, after the cod is done, add the king prawns. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through.

  3. 6

    Add Plum Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and pour the plum sauce over the cooked black cod and king prawns. Gently toss to coat and heat through for another 2 minutes.

Garnishing and Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish the Dish

Sprinkle the chopped spring onions and sesame seeds over the top of the fish and prawns for garnish.

  2. 8

    Serve

Transfer the Royal Koi Fish Gau to a serving platter and enjoy hot with steamed rice or noodles.
