Method
Preparation of Oolong Tea
- 1
Brew the Oolong Tea
In a teapot, brew 1 cup of Oolong tea according to the package instructions. Allow it to steep for about 3-5 minutes until the flavor is rich and aromatic. Once done, set aside to cool.
Brown Butter Preparation
- 2
Prepare the Brown Butter
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue to cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter turns a golden brown color and gives off a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
Mixing the Drink
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the brewed Oolong tea, brown butter (ensure it is slightly cooled), Singleton whisky, Ron Santiago de Cuba rum, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice.
- 4
Shake the Cocktail
Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and combine all the ingredients well.
- 5
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. The drink should have a rich, silky texture.
Garnishing
- 6
Add Garnishes
Garnish your drink with a piece of orange peel by expressing the oils over the drink and dropping it in. Add a maraschino cherry on top for an extra touch.
