Method

Cooking the Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a medium pot, combine the rinsed rice and 2 cups of water. Add 1 tsp of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Preparing the Chicken

  1. 3

    Cook the Chicken

While the rice is cooking, season the chicken breasts with salt. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of oil and cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked through and golden brown. Remove and let rest before slicing.

Making the Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes until smooth.

  2. 5

    Heat the Sauce

In the same skillet used for the chicken, pour in the sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 2-3 minutes until thickened slightly.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Fluff the cooked jasmine rice with a fork and divide it among serving plates. Top with sliced chicken and drizzle the sauce over the top.

  2. 7

    Garnish

Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top for garnish before serving.
