Sazerac Rye Recipe

Preparation Steps

   Chill the Glass

   Begin by chilling a rocks glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

   Prepare the Sugar

   In a separate mixing glass, place the sugar cube and add 2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters. Muddle the sugar and bitters together until the sugar is dissolved.

   Add Rye Whiskey

   Pour 2 oz of rye whiskey into the mixing glass with the muddled sugar and bitters. Add ice to the glass and stir well for about 20-30 seconds until chilled.

   Prepare the Glass

   Discard the ice water from the chilled rocks glass. Pour the absinthe into the glass, swirling it around to coat the inside, then discard any excess absinthe.

   Strain the Cocktail

   Strain the chilled rye whiskey mixture into the prepared glass that has been coated with absinthe.

   Garnish and Serve

   Express the oils of a lemon twist over the cocktail and then place the twist into the glass. Serve immediately and enjoy your Sazerac Rye!
