Method

Marinade and Prepare Steak

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.

  2. 2

    Coat the Steak

Place the flank steak in the bowl with the marinade, ensuring it is evenly coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Grill the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat. If using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are ashed over.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and place it on the grill. Grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Prepare Toppings and Serve

  1. 6

    Chop the Toppings

While the steak is resting, finely chop the fresh cilantro and dice the white onion.

  2. 7

    Warm the Tortillas

Heat the corn tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side until warmed and pliable.

  3. 8

    Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.

  4. 9

    Assemble the Tacos

In each tortilla, add a few slices of steak, a sprinkle of chopped onion, and cilantro. Squeeze lime juice over the top to taste.
