For the White Castle Sliders

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Sliders

Divide the beef mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each into a small patty, about 2 inches wide and 0.5 inches thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Sliders

Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the patties on the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the patties are cooked through.

  2. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the slider buns on a separate skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Sliders

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted slider bun. Place a cooked beef patty with melted cheese on each bun, followed by a slice of pickle. Top with the other half of the bun.
