Hummus Ingredients

Pita Ingredients

Method

Hummus Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse them under cold water. If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight and cook until tender.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt.

  3. 3

    Process until Smooth

Blend the mixture until smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

  4. 4

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning with more salt or cayenne pepper if you prefer it spicier.

Pita Preparation

  1. 5

    Warm the Pita

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Wrap the pita bread in aluminum foil and place it in the oven for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.

  2. 6

    Serve

Remove the pita from the oven, unwrap, and cut into wedges. Serve warm alongside the spicy hummus.
