Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients required for the loose leaf tea. Measure out 2 tablespoons of loose leaf black tea and set aside. If using, slice fresh ginger and gather mint leaves.

  2. 2

    Boil the Water

In a kettle, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Ensure that the water is fresh for the best flavor.

Brewing the Tea

  1. 3

    Steep the Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add the 2 tablespoons of loose leaf black tea. If using, also add the cinnamon stick and ginger slices to the tea.

  2. 4

    Allow to Brew

Cover the kettle and let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your desired strength. Longer steeping will result in a stronger flavor.

Serving

  1. 5

    Strain and Serve

After the tea has brewed, strain out the loose leaves using a tea strainer or a fine mesh sieve. Pour the tea into cups.

  2. 6

    Add Flavor Enhancements

Add honey and lemon juice to taste. Stir well to combine. Optionally, garnish with fresh mint leaves for added flavor and aroma.
